INVESTIGATOR+Pen System's highly popular Inspector+ software was originally conceived for use with “checklist” inspections in mind. Assessment, though, can incorporate more than simple checklist responses, sometimes a survey is required, other times failures are conditional upon a set of results values or outcomes. Over the years more sophisticated methods of inspection come to our attention and we have always endeavoured to keep our architecture in step with our end-users wherever possible. Hence “Investigator+”, an upgrade for Inspector+. Investigations are more thorough than inspections, typically. They normally involve a Q&A procedure and many of the inspection results are modified by the responses to earlier questions. INVESTIGATIONS By-Law inspectors, Assessment officers,
Insurers and a number of users can all benefit from a higher degree of
resolution when it comes to inspection results.
Typically, for example, an officer will be
following a complaint which is based on conditional responses: “Did the dog
bite the victim?” if yes “Is the victim injured?” if no “Who did the dog
bite?” and so on.
For us to “hard code” these sorts of applications
is a tremendous expense for customers, and for this reason we have spent
considerable time making the Inspector+ architecture expand to include the
definitions of long conditional inspection lists.
Investigators also need all the usual
features in Inspector+, such as scheduling, looking up properties, sketching,
commenting and the looking up of Code – with the Investigator+ upgrade for
Inspector+ our clients can now expand their inspections to include logic.
![]() UPGRADE INSPECTOR+If you’re already a user of Inspector+, we can quickly upgrade your system to incorporate the new investigations data structure. You will still be able to use and schedule your inspectors exactly the same way and they can still use all their current inspection types in the field with no changes. A new inspection class becomes available to you in Inspector+ Administrator and allows the “builder” to incorporate conditional questions and a variety of new “pop-ups”. In the field the inspectors still see their schedules, the different investigation inspections will function completely differently obviously, and hard copies are still defined the same way allowing reports to be written in the field on the investigation results. It’s a little cheaper to purchase the Inspector+ “suite” (including Evaluator+) than to upgrade, but oftentimes a client is unaware of the necessity for investigative-type inspections: normally our customers are replacing an existing paper-based system which is checklist oriented.VERSATILEUsing Investigator+ it is possible to make a diverse series of surveys or lookups as part of an inspection. It is possible to put entire lookup tables and lists into the data-capture procedure using Investigator+, allowing for an extremely high level of data accuracy and speed of data input. Using the same application a City could set up a series of ByLaw investigation reports on each inspector’s Palm unit with lookups of the City database for relevant fields. Once it’s possible to lookup various data elements and select them as responses the speed of data input is increased and the accuracy of the investigation is ensured. Using Investigator it is a simple effort to search for all the files with similar response for example. It’s not just restricted to cities, Investigator+ opens a new world of inspection possibilities for a number of industries including Facilities, Plant, Utilities, Law and a variety of different surveys.IN THE FIELD, NOT THE OFFICEField personnel like working in the field, not the office. Keeping these important players where they are needed most enriches their jobs, while earning good returns for the companies' operation. With Inspector+ there is no justification for the continued use of paper-based forms and unreliable tracking of field data. Pen computing speeds up the flow of timely, error-free information, enhancing the decision-making function in the field. Do you need Investigator+? Talk to us ![]() Back to Software |
