Who is Pen Systems? We are called Pen Systems because, since our inception in 1992, we have developed solutions exclusively for pen based computers of all formats, including tablets, PDA's and all manner of handheld devices. That's all we do. We specialize in an area we believe in. Not just to replace paper, but to achieve the next great automation revolution: in the field. A blue-collar revolution akin to the office automation of the '80s. Pen Systems has gone through five complete generations of mobility software since our founding. We probably have more years of straight mobile development under our belts than any comparable company in the world, with more man-hours of experience in mobility. We develop the leading-edge, supporting many devices while our industry colleagues are still in development. We are highly focused on R&D, committing over a quarter of our income to ongoing research. Research means exploring the unknown. This problem solving in and of itself is the benefit we reap from the labour. The understanding required to be consultants in mobility is gained only by doing hands-on, applied, science and testing. We are ethical, we are consultants first; believing that technology in itself is no solution if the solution is not aligned directly with the business process of our customer. Recently we have been concentrating on City-Wide software which allows building/ fire/health/risk/by-law inspectors to integrate with the city's legacy databases, a highly effective solution for remote users. With our new municipal suite of solutions integrated with existing city-wide enterprises, the architecture is providing large-scale Return On Investment for our clients. In addition to producing and supporting these municipal licenses, we have an emerging body of new software for the industry, including our SideWalker (GPS-based side walk inspection) and Road-Inspector packages. Both applications pinpoint, categorize and prioritize the defects in the sidewalk or road on their city road map. Also for engineering and Public Works our Crew Card is an easy to use, field-friendly software solution that allows crew chiefs, public works officials or individual employees the ability to update electronically all aspects of data capture for public works. We provide similar functionality within the Medical industry, specifically for the Emergency Room and the electronic patient record. We also have dozens of mining industry solutions in the field... All these applications have one common denominator: consultation; the understanding of your work as well as you do. We have spent more than 10 years consulting to industry and developing software for the various divisions which make up the "industrial process". Pen has an in-depth understanding of the needs and requirements of these multi-billion dollar industries as well as how to create high levels of acceptance among the professional mobile workforce. Pen Systems is currently headquartered at the Sudbury office, made up of programmers and analysts as well as science and support specialists. We also have offices in Victoria, British Columbia, and Ottawa in Canada; with active partners and developers Canada-wide through our partners at xwave, Municipal Software, Bell Mobility and others. Pen's products are versatile, allowing them to cross-over to other industries. We've built solutions from Aerospace down to deep underground Mining applications, all still being used successfully in the field. If you've any form of remote or wireless data capture you wish to employ or discuss: Pen Systems' consulting can provide you with wisdom in a field where maturity is quite rare. <read more about us> * Pen Systems' products are migrating to a Suite of PenPAL and MobilePAL solutions names and licenses. These will be phased in during 2008 and 2009 as part of the ongoing upgrade programme and will be fully compatible with existing software in use (eg: Inspector+, Sidewalker etc). |
