CREW CARD

PUBLIC WORKS STREAMLINED

Crew Card* is an easy to use, field-friendly software solution that allows crew chief's, public works officials or individual employees the ability to update electronically all aspects of data capture for public works. Crew Card runs on the popular Palm Operating system and effectively replaces exiting time sheets and materials forms in the field.

This allows your crews to enter all of their municipal data directly into your existing maintenance and materials' databases. Team leaders can access supplys and equipment data from the field and generate time sheets for entire crews effortlessly.

Speed Up Maintenance

Public works managers can enquire on real municipal data in the field, reducing the need for calls to the warehouse.
  • Staff and seasonal workers can quickly replace the existing paper-based forms with this exceptionally easy-to-learn handheld solution.
  • Eliminates all hardcopy and the need to rekey data, instant updating within the existing materials databases upon connection from the field.
  • Data entry errors are minimized because data entry is completed on-site at the time of the job's completion.

  • Payroll problems are virtually eliminated as all timesheets are correct upon submission.

Increase Job Turnaround

  • Crews are able to concentrate on the job at hand, not filling in forms during the day.

  • Delays in the availability of equipment and consumables are minimized, project turnaround times are reduced with accurate information.

  • Odometer and accomplishment figures are all included as part of the overall data capture process.

Enabling Technology For Works Departments

  • Crew Card allows for changes throughout the day, allowing for flexibility in the field.

  • The optional GIS or mapping front end can show a GIS map of the specific area being worked in.

  • Crew Card supports pen based commenting as well optional sketching and digital photography.

  • Full integration with GPS (Global Positioning Systems) receivers and Digital camera technology help to complete a suite of features unparallel in the municipal marketplace.

  • Field crews can print hardcopy using infrared printers, and also "beam" data from crew to crew in larger municipalities.

Minimize Costs

  • Reduce your overhead; crews can spend a lot more time in the field and do not require the same office space and fixtures.

  • Minimize clerical support. Time and materials information is updated "real time" from the field and does not need to be entered into the database by clerical staff.

  • Crews enter their time information in the field, at the source, no extra "office time" required to enter data.
  • Crew Card can use inexpensive Palm computers to enter data. This saves thousands of dollars over laptop-based solutions.

  • Crew Card runs with any ODBC compliant database. There is no need to change or upgrade your current municipal materials or management databases.

  • Crew Card is completely customizable so that individual municipalities can customize the cards to their current workflow methods and reporting.

Getting Started

Pen Systems can provide cities with demonstrations of Crew Card for Public Works.
Features available in the PalmTM software can be demonstrated to crews simply and training can be completed effectively before implementation.
Crew Card (and all Pen's Municipal software) is built on an "open architecture" so it can freely exchange information with your current municipal database system. No upgrade of your current system is required.
Demonstration software is available for download from our website-- click here to go to our downloads page. Contact us for demonstration disks and additional information on Pen Systems' Municipal software solutions.

* Pen Systems' products are migrating to a Suite of PenPAL and MobilePAL solutions names and licenses. These will be phased in during 2008 and 2009 as part of the ongoing upgrade programme and will be fully compatible with existing software in use (eg: CrewCard, Inspector+, Sidewalker etc).
