Cities, Municipalities, Cable Companies, Utilities and other
city-based field workers collect data of all sorts, from
public
works information, cable drops, map updates all the way through
to traffic reports. The problem has always been the same: how to
feed all the different analysis and billing/reporting and mapping
systems from the field from the same field system.
Pen Systems offers a variety of solutions to municipalities for totally integrated data capture for legacy systems. On tablets, wearable or palm computers. There are a few different levels of integration we provide:
With a highlighted map an inspector can be guided from site to site with our Inspector+ software, for example. Or, without the GIS frontend (FIELDNOTES), the inspector could simply follow a schedule of addresses using a Palm computer and still complete the necessary data capture. A Cable worker may wish to update AutoCAD symbols on a street map, while capturing statistical data: we can provide our FieldNotes solution modified for Cable to slash days off a typical strand survey.
All our solutions are scaleable - in other words if you're picking up a database on a Windows tablet, you can still pick up the same database on a Palm version of the same product. The mechanism for this is a piece of software which handles all network database translations and traffic - we call it the Import Robot - using the Robot there hasn't been a single database, CAD file or image we haven't been able to import. Long Term, municipalities can rely on Pen Systems solutions for the integration of departments and the connection of supposedly disparate functions. In other words you can have multiple departments using the same tool for different purposes in perfect harmony!
