Leamington, OntarioIf all the Municipality of Leamington, Ontario, had to offer was some of the world's best tomatoes, it would be enough. But they also have sailing, scuba diving, Point Pellee bird watching and Inspector+ for Palm OS. The Leamington building inspectors have been using Inspector+ on their Palms for several months now, with excellent results. When last spotted at the OBOA meetings this year, Doug Morrish (CBO) and inspectors were delighted with the software's ability to search on all the open permits, a problem in the past. Leamington, unlike most of our clients, were already running "paperless" prior to install (normally it is our goal to make the city paperless!) on the phone. Now they are looking up and printing notices on site. Welcome, Leamington! Kitchener, Ontario 
When the City of Kitchener decided to make it's sidewalks safer to walk on, they called upon Pen Systems to help. The result is Sidewalker, a tablet-based solution which is mounted on the handlebars of a mountain tricycle. A GPS receiver, accurate to within a few metres, is mounted on the bikes also, allowing any defect in the sidewalk to be accurately tracked and instantly recorded in the field.This summer, two of these bikes were used to map most of the sidewalks, plotting each pothole, tree root and water-dam the citizens of Kitchener might trip on. By mapping these defects the engineers can prioritize their repair schedules, minimizing the risks to the citizens. We applaud Kitchener for taking this pro-active approach to the welfare of their community! Other News Pen's Own Palm Pilot  Bob Wootan has started introducing Pen's solutions out on the west coast.
